Evan Thomas, Bass, has performed as a soloist and as a featured professional choral singer in ensembles in Philadelphia, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Brunswick, Maine. He has soloed in Mozart's "Magic Flute", Gilbert & Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance", and in the Main Line Opera Guild. He introduced the Vox Renaissance Consort with "Veni, Veni Emmanuel" in 2007 at the Castle of Arcadia University and St. Katharine of Siena Church. At the Kimmel Center, he debuted as St. Peter in Vox Ama Deus' 2005 performance of the Bach St. Matthew Passion. While musical director of the male a cappella vocal ensemble at Bowdoin College, Evan was the featured bass soloist on a 1976 recording and toured with the group throughout New England. The Carmelite monastery of Philadelphia has given Evan the honor of performing for some of their most solemn liturgical feasts. In Pittsburgh, Evan was soloist in the Heinz Chapel Choir and St. Paul's Cathedral Choir. Evan has studied voice for seven years with Dr. Richard Johnson of Bryn Mawr and has developed artistically under the tutelage of Maestro Valentin Radu, who has provided Evan with opportunities and inspiration through his dedication to the great repertoire of the Masters. With Maestro Radu, he has appeared in numerous performances as both soloist and chorus member with both the Ama Deus Ensemble and the Vox Renaissance Consort in a variety of venues in the Philadelphia area including the Kimmel Center.
Evan resides in Wyndmoor with his wife, Claire, and four children. He is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and is the Service Director at the Horsham Clinic adult outpatient partial hospital program.
