The story of Dido and Aeneas was adapted from Virgil’s “Aenead” and tells the legend of Dido, Queen of Carthage, who falls in love with Aeneas, the Trojan refugee. However, some witches who hate Dido remind him that he is fated to go and be the founder of the Roman Empire. As Aeneas leaves Dido, she kills herself in despair.

This opera production is complete with action, costumes and dancing. Soprano Julianne Baird, renowned Baroque artist, is featured in the title role. Drama, love and passion delivered by the stellar principal soloists, chorus and Baroque orchestra make this event a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day!
