Ed Bara has performed with numerous ensembles as a soloist, and recording artist. He has been heard in 14 countries, and some of the world’s most beautiful venues including Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, The National Cathedral in Washington D.C., Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall, NY, and the Basilica of Sts Peter and Paul, The Academy of Music, and The Kimmel Center, Phila. Some of Mr. Bara's stage highlights include the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Colline in La Boheme, Crespel in The Tales of Hoffman, Sparafucille in Rigoletto, Ramphis from Aida, and The Pirate King from The Pirates of Penzance. In all, he has performed over 80 feature roles of opera, oratorio, theater, and musical theater.

His comic work as Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady was hailed as..."a hysterical blend of [Stanley] Holloway, and [Jackie] Gleason". His solo concert and oratorio performances have been called '...dark, rich, expressive singing..." and” ..powerful, but with enough grace as to understand every word."

The bass-baritone has made numerous recordings including; Bach's B-minor Mass, Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, Handel's Messiah, the Dvorak Requiem, among others. He will be performing and recording the role of Elijah from Mendelssohn’s Elijah in the spring of ’07.

Ed is also, with his wife Jennifer, co-founder and director of an early music performing ensemble specializing in feasts of the renaissance. He is also the Choir Director at Peace Lutheran Church, as well as conductor and co-artistic director for the Peace Oratorio Society.

Mr. Bara is currently teaching voice at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and at his home in Lehigh County where he lives with his wife and two children, Alex and Sydney.
