Pablo Cesar Bustos, Tenor, is a graduate of the vocal performance Bachelor and Master Degrees at the Eastman School of Music. A resident of Windsor, ON, Mr. Bustos has performed with various ensembles in the Windsor/Detroit Area. Pablo performs regularly with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, in major choral works as well as in other special concerts.
Highlights of this season’s concert engagements, Evangelist for Bach’s St. John Passion (Eastman School of Music), Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor (Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra), Bach’s Cantatas BWV 45, 62, and 140 (The Publick Musick), Handel’s Messiah (Fort Street Chorale and Orchestra), Evangelist and Arias for Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Windsor Symphony Orchestra) and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass (West Shore Symphony). Upcoming performances this season includes: Bach’s Coffee Cantata (Eastman School of Music) and Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor (Fort Street Chorale and Orchestra). Mr. Bustos is a featured soloist on the Musica Omnia label’s recently released CD set of the Complete Lutheran Masses of J. S. Bach with the Publick Musick Choir and Orchestra. He will also appear on a disc featuring Bach Cantatas BWV 45, 62 and 140 with the same ensemble to be released by Musica Omnia later this year. Next season he returns to the Fort Street Chorale for performances of Handel’s Messiah and the Bach’s B minor Mass.
Pablo made his operatic debut singing the role of Damon opposite Metropolitan Opera tenor John McVeigh, and Met Opera soprano Jennifer Aylmer, in semi-staged performances of Handel's Acis and Galatea with the Detroit Oratorio Society (Spring 2001). He has performed highlights from Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance (Frederic) under the auspices of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2004, Bustos appeared in the San Francisco Bay Area singing performances of Handel's Alcina in the role of Oronte with the California Music Festival. Eastman Opera Theatre credits include: Don Narciso in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia, Lysander in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, (Pirelli), Little Bat McLean in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, and Emperor Nerone in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea. He was featured singing the role of Gavust in concert performances Johann Matthesson's Boris Goudenow with Eastman's Collegium Musicum under the direction of Paul O’Dette. Recent operatic engagements include his debut with Opera Theatre of Weston in the role of the Snake in Rachel Portman’s opera The Little Prince. He returns to the OTW this summer as Mr. Angel in Mozart’s Die Schauspieldirektor and next winter as Alfred in Die Fledermaus and tenor roles in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortileges.
Mr. Bustos currently studies with Professor Rita Shane. Among his previous teachers include Peggy Dwyer and Dale Moore.
