Kemper LeCroy Florin, soprano, is thrilled to be singing with Vox Ama Deus for her second season.
Ms. Florin most recently sang with the Ohio Light Opera Company in their 2006 season, where she performed the roles of Marian in The Music Man and Gianetta in Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers. In the fall of 2005, Kemper sang the role of Lucy Harris in a critically acclaimed production of Jekyll and Hyde at the Ritz Theatre Company in the South Jersey area.
Equally at home on the opera stage, Kemper has sung Yvette in La Rondine, Nancy in Albert Herring, Atalanta in Xerxes, and Sister Alice in Dialogues of the Carmelites. Other favorite roles she has performed include Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Lady Jacquie in Me and My Girl, Bianca/Lois Lane in Kiss Me, Kate and the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods.
In 2004, she sang the role of Gloria in a Charles Strouse (Annie) world premiere of The West. In 2005, she had the honor to meet and sing for Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line) in a musical theatre master class. Kemper can be heard on Vox Ama Deus’ recent recording of Mozart’s Requeim. In December, 2006, Albany records will release a new Ohio Light Opera recording of The Gondoliers, featuring Kemper as Gianetta.
Ms. Florin holds a BM degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003) and a MM degree from the Eastman School of Music (2005). Kemper resides as a happy newly-wed in Philadelphia with her husband Todd, a Vox Ama Deus baritone and pediatric resident at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania. They have two kittens, Maestro and Diva.
