Jody Kidwell, Mezzo-Soprano is a frequent guest soloist with Vox Ama Deus in performances of the Bach B Minor Mass, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and most recently Mozart’s Coronation Mass at The Kimmel Center.
Other recent engagements include Beethoven’s Ninth with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. El Amor Brujo by Manuel DeFalla with the national symphonies of Columbia and Costa Rica.
A winner in the third Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, Ms. Kidwell was chosen by him to appear in Luisa Miller filmed for PBS broadcast. Later Gian Carlo Menotti directed her in his The Saint of Bleeker Street, her portrayal of Desidera heralded by critics as “haunting...steamy...intense..” As Zulma in Opera Company of Philadelphia’s production of L’Italiana in Algeri, Ms. Kidwell was heard and seen on WHYY’s Philadelphia Performs series. Other roles include Carmen Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Olga in Eugene Onegin, Maddelena in Rigoletto.
She returns to Opera Columbus in January for performances of Susannah, after a successful run as Aldonza/Dulcinea in their production of Man of La Mancha in July 2002.
Ms. Kidwell will make her Carnegie Hall debut in May of 2005 singing the Verdi Requiem.
