One of the “Three B’s” along with Bach and Beethoven, Johannes Brahms returns to our programming after an absence of several years. Along with his profoundly moving Requiem, this concert will also include the Variations on the “St. Anthony Chorale,” as well as four works that we present for the first time: his stunning Ave Maria, two of his many beautiful Lieder, and the stirring Alto Rhapsody, based on a poem by Goethe, a poignant expression of the pain of lost love.

Running time: 2 hours 30 minutes – one intermission
