The grande finale of our Season 35 is a pair of fabulous "festivals" celebrating the two Baroque giants, Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach. This first of the two, Vivaldi Festival, presents a joyful feast of works by the Venetian master. As director of music for the Pietà in Venice, Vivaldi composed a vast number of works, sacred and secular, choral and instrumental, for the gifted girls under his charge. This program is bookended with two of his sacred choral masterpieces, the sublime Magnificat and the dazzling Gloria, and complemented with three delightful instrumental works: a concerto for solo oboe, one for oboe and trumpet, and one for violin and cello. Be uplifted by the amazing energy and exuberance of Vivaldi’s music!
